Auschwitz: An Educational Journey

If you saw my previous post, you would know that my main reason for visiting Krakow was to go to Auschwitz. Previously when I had been in Poland, I was in Warsaw. Getting to Krakow would have been a four-hour (or more) trip. I thought I would never have the opportunity to see this place full of horrific stories. When I had the opportunity to travel to Krakow for a long weekend, the first thing I did was plan to visit Auschwitz.

Escape to Sintra

Part of the reason I waited so long to go to Lisbon was so that I could have the opportunity to go to Sintra. I wanted to really have an experience so I packed FOUR sites into my itinerary. Sintra is town just outside of Lisbon that is filled with mansions, castles, and palaces. It’s an easy day trip and it’s sure to take your breath away.

Budapest: Always on the Wrong Side

My third and final leg of my Eastern European adventure was to Budapest in Hungary. I was excited, but also a little intimidated to go to Budapest. After becoming someone accustomed to the strange Slavic language, I was not thrown into one of the hardest languages to learn: Hungarian. It is not a Slavic language, but rather a cousin of the Finnish language in the Uralic family. Nevertheless, the city was still beautiful. And what made it even more beautiful …
